Notches make height consistency easily achievable To create pieces of a set height, use the notches in the ruler to fix your needle tool.
Then use the needle tool to cut off any excess clay you might have, Prevent cracking with the rib You can use the top side of the rib to compress the bottoms of your pots to strengthen the base and to prevent cracking during the drying or firing process.
